Cherry’s on Maryhill, Hoon Hay

We require an inspiring leader, with skills to work collaboratively and be an excellent role model with our very capable team. As curriculum leader, a strong understanding of ways to foster learning in all children is vital.

A sound knowledge of our up-dated Te Whariki is important, as is a commitment to ongoing development of our bi-cultural focus within our centre.

Proven experience with internal evaluation, inquiry learning, intentional teaching, and individual learning programmes is necessary.

It is vital to have strength in the documentation of our children’s learning, as well as being an excellent communicator and being well organised.

As we are an Enviroschool and we are working to attain the silver award level this year, dedication to sustainable practices is required. This encompasses not just environmental considerations, but also social justice, purchasing products from ethical sources and traded fairly, an emphasis also on our bi-cultural roots and a natural play area and equipment for our children.

Our applicant will also have an understanding of the importance of care routines and a respectful approach to these.

Above all we need a passionate individual with a genuine understanding of the capabilities of young children and an ability to foster and grow a love of learning.

The start date would preferably be around the beginning of October 2017. Although not preferred, we could wait until January 2018 for the right person.

Applicants need to hold a current NZ teacher’s practicing certificate and have an appropriate ECE qualification.
